I'm writing a paper and am having trouble with the title page. I can add page numbers or a running header, but can't seem to add both. I'm running Windows 7. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

micrsoft word ?

You can make a header then go to Insert and insert 'Page Number' into the header.

Yes, on Word. gangster_boy420, that's how I've been trying to do it, and with no success. If I make the running header, then insert the page number, the header gets erased. The same thing happens when I do it in the opposite order.

can you put the page numbers in the footer or do you have to put them in the header?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Insert--->Page Number When it inserts the number 1 on the right side of the page, your cursor should be blinking on the left side of the number. Just type your running header and press space until it is on the left side of the page. If you are using Word07 there are templates you can use too. Just be careful of formatting if you are doing APA or MLA, make sure that your header meets the requirements. If you want a quick fix and are needing APA formatting, Google Riverpoint Writer, it is a plug in for Word that has a wizard that will walk you through setting up your document.
