2(8-y)/5=-y y?

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

You need to isolate all y variables to one side of the equation:\[2(8-y)/5 = -y\] First, multiply both sides by 5 to get rid of the fraction: \[2(8-y)=-5y\] Next, distribute the 2 on the left side to get: \[16-2y=-5y\] Now add +2y to both sides to get: \[16=-3y\] Finally, divide both sides by -3 to get: \[-16/3=y\] y = -5.333
