-5x-5x-5x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-15x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

assuming there isn't an extra x missing after the last 5 ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no would the answer be negative or positve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-75 sory

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry**

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

How did you get anything when there is no equation to solve there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is: -15x-5 As to whether that is positive or negative, It depends on what the value of x is. For example: if x=10 then the result will be negative: -15x-5 = -15*10-5 = -155 But if x=-10 then the result will be positive: -15x-5 = -15*(-10) - 5 = 150 - 5 = 145

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh ... !!!!! I thought that was an "x" like the letter "x" not multiplication .

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

lol...I thought that too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. -5 * -5 * -5 * -5 = (-5)^4 = 5^4 = 5*5*5*5 = 625

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what dont you just do -5x-5=25 -5x-5=25 then 25x25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can do that as well, sure. 25 * 25 = 5^2 * 5^2 = 5^4 = 625

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are most welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it looks like you are comfortable with this stuff, right ? or is there anything that doesn't sit quite right ?
