During a thunderstorm, 7.00 cm of rain fell on a 16.0 km(squared) area. What mass of water fell on that area?

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

First calculate how many square centimeters are in 16km^2. So it's 16,000m * 10,000 (10,000 = 100 cm^2) = 1.6e^11 cm^2. Multiple that times 7 cm to get your answer of 1.12^E12 grams (noting that 1 cm3 = 1mL = 1g of water).
