Okay, just a second.
(1/4)x - 5 = x. Now we subtract (1/4)x from both sides. -5 = (3/4)x. Or, to put it another way, -5 = 3x/4. Multiply both sides by 4. -20 = 3x. Divide both sides by 3. -20/3 = x. :D
