Calculus: What is the Limit comparison test? and how do you apply it to a question?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the limit comparison test is comparing the similarities of functions in order to determine a method of convergence or whatnots

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i read you correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kinda ... so with this comparison test are we sposed to 'randomly' pick a function to compare it to?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

from what i can recall, yes. perferablly something that is around the same shape graphically so you know that it doesnt wander to far off

OpenStudy (amistre64):

like comparing sqrt(x) with ln(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thankyou, the idea is to pick a function that is slightly greter than or < than the original, therfore enbaling you to compare it
