Would mitochondria levels be lower in an elderly person's skin and higher in an athletes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the skins not really where the mitochondria are needed, the muscle is more important. But yes an elderly person will likely have muscle wastage and less mitochondria. whether an athlete had higher mitochondria levels depends on whether they do endurance or explosive anaerobic exercise, only aerobic training builds mitochondria levels significantly
