a mole is a unit of measurement. If we say we have a 12 donuts, we can say we have "a dozen" donuts. A mole is 6.02 x 20^23. So a "mole" of donuts, is 6.02 x 10.23 donuts. (Which is a heck of a lot of donuts.)
