2z^2 - 3 = -5z

OpenStudy (anonymous):

come on man, just add 5z to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2z^2+5z-3=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then do i factor or use the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either or. both will get u the same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then how do i factor it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it's easier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x+a)(x+b) a*b=-3 2b+a=5 solve for a and b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case its probably easier to use the quadratic formula, (-b±√b^2-4ac)/2a = (-5±√25-24)/4 = -5+1 / 4 and -5 - 1 / 4 thus roots are z=-1 and z = -3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes alot more sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i actually would have preferred to factor. (2x-1)(x+3)=2x^2+5x-3 x=1/2 and x=-3 also it should b sqrt(25+24)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean it should be sqrt does that mean the answer is wrong
