Would you say that if I was writing a novel similar to JAWS, that it would be popular? In these times, at least.

I think that writing the story like JAWS would be good, but you would have to make a whole new story plot. I would read the book if you wrote it. I don't know if it would be popular but I never thought Twilight was going to be popular either.

It's not the topic of the book that makes it popular. Had Jaws been crap, it would have flopped whenever it was published.

For a novel like Jaws be sure to follow the advice of Dwight Swain - google him. Particularly follow his advice on "scene and sequel". Once you're familiar with Swain's definition of those terms, watch the movie Jaws and notice how each scene ends in catastrophe.
