Problem with analyzing literary material
Whenever I read a piece of literature, I can never derive the "meaning" of it . Like document based questions. Whenever I read the documents It takes me about 4 or 5 times for me to get what it's talking about. Can anyone give me any tips on how to improve my analyzing skills?
Find the key words and focus more on the flow of the writing rather than the meaning.
Like what should I look for? What are ways to practice? Thank you
an example Doubtful sentences of divine law, especially on those matters which are called articles of the Christian faith,… must be defined only by the general council of the believers,… no partial group or individual person of whatever status [the pope], has the authority to make such definitions.

I kinda get the gist of it. What do you do to usually focus on the flow of writing? Sorry if this is more of a common sense question, but it isn't for me :P
on the bottom of the dbq it usually has the dates and the person, just think of the theme and mood instead of analyzing the whole writing which could lead to confusion. Usually your first thought about the dbqs are right.
Oh okay, I think that's my problem. I analyze the whole writing rather than try to derive the main points of the piece. Thank you so much! Do you have any links where I can practice this on? Thank you so much though! I'd give you 2 medals if I could !
