i have a problem seting up up motion problems . this is the problem. Russ and janet are runing in the strawberry hill fun run . russ runs at 7mph,janet at 5mph. if they start at the same time ,how long will it be before they are 1.5 mi
apart ?

The difference in speed is 2 miles perhour. (After one hour R has gone 7 miles and J has gone 5 miles.) So at 2 miles per hour, how long does it take to go 1.5 miles.?
xhrs x2 miles per hour = 1.5 miles
x =1.5/2 =0.75 hours

0.75 hours times 60 min /hr =45 minutes
