Find the unit vector in the opposite direction of = 1 + 4 + 6

OpenStudy (zarkon):

is your vector \[<1,4,6>\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zarkon):

let \[v=<1,4,6>\] then compute \[-\frac{v}{\|v\|}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u calculate ||v||

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|v| is the distance of the point from the origin which is found by using the distance formula.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[\|<a,b,c>\|=\sqrt{a^2+b^2+c^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ultimately you should get new values for a,b,c in you v vector and using the formula Zarkon gave you, you will see that the new distance from the origin or |v| is 1. Which is what all unit vectors are supposed to be.
