factor y^2+7y-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y^2+7y-18 =y^2+9y-2y-18 =y(y+9)-2(y+9) =(y+9)(y-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can do this by grouping but much faster just to just find the factors of -18 that has a sum of + 7 and then just (y+ n)(y - n) Here we have factor of -18 = +9 * 2 Sum is +7 plug in the number into (y+ n)(y + n) (y+ 9)(y - 2)

Made a boo boo You can do this by grouping but much faster just to just find the factors of -18 that has a sum of + 7 and then just (y+ n)(y - n) Here we have factor of -18 = +9 * -2 Sum is +7 plug in the number into (y+ n)(y - n) (y+ 9)(y - 2)
