Solve the system 2x – 3y = 7 and 8x – 12y = 5 by using graph paper or graphing technology. What is the solution to the system? this is the only one i seriously need help on now. my answers last time we no solutions, but that wasn't correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is no solutions not correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm not exactly sure that's the answer i had gotten too. but my teacher said it was incorrect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are parallel lines. there is no solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-3y = 7 can be re written as 8x-12y = 28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope of both these lines is the same. therefore they are parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well my teacher's saying that is wrong. so i'm not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you follow logic or do you follow whatever your teacher says blindly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk, apparently teachers are always right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope. logic is always right. humans are prone to make mistakes.

OpenStudy (precal):

Unless you wrote the system down incorrectly, these 2 lines are parallel and therefore has no solution. slope is (2/3). Teachers are human.
