Identify and discuss the differences between the terms ‘theories,’ ‘laws,’ and ‘hypotheses.’ Describe ‘controlled conditions
THEORY- A set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based. LAW -A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present. HYPOTHESIS- A proposition made as a basis for reasoning, without any assumption of its truth. A hypothesis is a untested claim/obersvation.... Example: I think the changes of air pressure in the air lock make my right knee hurt. Now theory and law are kind a vague, but from my experience, A law is a claim/observation that has been well established and is usually fundemental in nature or axoimic in terms of mathematics.... Eamples: F = ma, conservation of energy, 4 laws of thermodynamics.... A theory is a claim/observation that has been proven or has alot of evidence it might be true. This is the most board group... theroies usually ecompass more fundemental theroies and laws. Example: String Theory, Relativity,... controlled conditions - It is as it sounds..conditions that you can control like temperature and pressure... concentration and so on.
