I would say it's very accurate because on average, a person who goes to college makes about a million more $ in their lifetime. It also means you are my qualified for higher level jobs and the higher the level of the job, the higher the pay. This also means you afford better education for you children. Having more money keeps you out of debt. It's easier for you to find a job when you fired because the supply of highly educated people does not always meet the demand.
I think that Marissa's answer is the traditional response, but college is no longer a good indicator of employability. The economy is a better indicator of whether or not one can expect to get a job and thus get success - this is largely self-evident in our present state of world affairs. So, you can say that in a good economy, higher levels of education roughly translate to better success, BUT in a poor economic situation, it does not necessarily mean success.
