how is art related to politics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Art has always been related to politics, but often as an antagonist. Politics is largely a cultural force that attempts to resist change. Art often attempts to provoke change. There is sometimes transference back and forth, for instance when Art is used to support a political ideology - or when art provokes change in political thought.

Art is usually used as an outlet for people who want change in their government. They reach a more modern and broad audience by using more modern types of art or different types. Don't forget that movies, music, paintings, sculptures are all art. The Punk movement is notable for its bands using many political references throughout all the songs - they're purely geared toward attacking something or changing the audience's point of view on something they maybe haven't thought of before.

ancient arts can sometimes tell us about political situations in a knigdom or empire and thus helps in the study of politics.
