I recommend the bible, i.e. "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill, saved me a lot of trouble in uni. also for more basic stuff you could try Introductory circuit analysis by Boylestad which is ok but not great, there's also Hughs electronics, but it can be vague in some areas.
