If you want an easy and simple software where you can send sms to phones the answer is Cool SMS. Register (free), add your contacts and send them sms for free. http://www.superdownloads.com.br/download/132/coolsms/
You could use aim. For the contact, do "+1" and then their phone number. for example +118001576518 would send a text to 18001576518
what of different contact code like let's say +254 for instance?
