In general, when a number written in scientific notation includes a positive exponent, the absolute value of that number is __________

OpenStudy (amistre64):

positive exponents are big numbers; so your number gets bigger

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im a little confused

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the || tho i aint got a clue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. less than 0 B. between 0 and 1 C. equal to 1 D. greater than 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhhh! d

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the sign of the exponent doesnt really matter then

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1.0 x10^7 .... |1| = 1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

6.43 x10^-123 |6.43| = 6.43

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or if we are spose to expand the number than i spose d is a good enough choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

confused again.......

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1.0 x10^1 = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes - isit that the exponent is positive but the first number can be neg or pos. the absolute value of say, -5 * 10^2 is 500
