how do you graph 7 (x-3)^2 (x+5)^4 i know the zeros are 0, 3, and -5 but do you just plot zeros or do u have to make a whole table IM SO CONFUSED PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! im in pre-calc

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Surf, You can consider looking at the behavior on each of the intervals around the zeros. This can help you determine concave up/concave down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so no need to plot points which are in like the 30000 or something crazy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still having trouble graphing it can u draw a graph for it please

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Not typically, the key is these types of problems is to identify places in the graph where the slope is zero/undefined and then what kind of behavior occurs around these regions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok can u maybe graph it for me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im really confused how...i know it crosses through 0 but only touches 3 and -5...and also theres the 7 which makes it tricky and confusing.....

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Here you go... http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+7+%28x-3%29^2+%28x%2B5%29^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

When it comes right down to it, you can also test values in the intervals and see what becomes clear. But only use this if you get stuck... otherwise you will be wasting lots of time. You're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and wait why isnt it intersecting 0 if 0 is a zero due to the 7??!?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??????

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

I think that 0 is not a zero. If you place 0 into the equation, the number is quite large.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait and what does 7 do how do u know how much to shrink it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

/!??!?!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

/!??!?!?
