A certain type of nail cost $0.95/lb. If there are 145 nails per pound, how many nails can you purchase for $2.50?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you should do is divide 2.50 by 0.95

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.50/.95=x/145 x=381.5789 however since you can't have .5789 of a nail, your answer will be x=381. you round down because .5789 of anail is no use

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 lb 145 nails ----- x --------- x $2.50 = 381 nails (the other units cancel) $0.95 1 lb
