Same idea with subtraction Use the same 3 numbers if you want 3/(6/8) = 3/(0.75) = 4 but (3/6)/8 = (1/2)/8 = 1/16 So \[\large \frac{3}{\frac{6}{8}}\neq \frac{\frac{3}{6}}{8}\] which shows us that division is not associative
