You have a lot of work on your hands my friend... Linear algebra is a lot of tedious simple math and one little mistake can screw up your whole answer. Basically, to find a five by five determinate you break it down into 4, 4x4 matrices and find their determinates each of the 4x4's should correspond to the corners of your 5x5. This here is a pretty good website that explains it better than I will be able to over text: http://people.richland.edu/james/lecture/m116/matrices/determinant.html sorry, I can't help more however something like this would probably take about an hour to type out.
