an electrician cuts a 22-ft piece of wire into 2 pieces. one piece is 18 ft shorter than the other piece . how long was each piece?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 18 ft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x- 18 2x - 18 = 22 x = 20 --> 1st x- 18 ---> 2nd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x- 18 2x - 18 = 22 x = 20 --> 1st x- 18 = 2 ---> 2nd

do the steps like what I did last time.. let x=longer wire,x-18=shorter wire equate them to 22 22=x-18+x 40=2x 20=x------>longer wire +x-18 20-18 2----->shorter wire
