Well, Le Morte D' Arthur is a classic mythological narrative in the vein of Joseph Campbell. It is roughly equatable to numerous movies and stories. A good fit is Star Wars. Luke is born from a powerful father, fostered by another family, taken in by a wizard...etc etc.

The Lord of the Rings follows this "reluctant hero" narrative as well, as does The Bible.  Many other myths throughout history are completely interchangeable. Just look hard enough and you begin to see the pattern.
