how to solve a system of equations with two equations and 3 variables -1=49A-7B+c and 3=A+B+C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u need to introduce some parameters ... are u familiar with this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not at all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm ... i have only just rescently learnt this ... and i am in my first yr at university ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm in alg 2 as a freshmen...great

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you would do is let B=s and C=t ... then you would find A in terms of these parameters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your answers will be in terms of these parameters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kay cool i think i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you want me to try and get a result ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that'd be helpful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay ... remembering im new to this ... :D lol since we do not have enough eqns for the number of variables we cannot express the answer explicitly it will ilways involve parameters: as a vector we have solution (in terms of our parameters) By letting B=s and C=t we find A=(1-7s+t)/49 (A,B,C) = {(1-7s+t)/49 , s , t) this being the solution with our two parameters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome I'll keep trying to do these but that was great thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np, i hope i conveyed what i was doing ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i got whatcha were saying thanks again
