1st month: 2 types
2nd month: 2 types from previous month+ 2 more this month = 4 types
3rd month: 4+2 = 6
4th month: 6+2 = 8

and so on... so you should see that the pattern is 2n, where n equals the number of months.

In a year, you would get 2(12) = 24 types of pastries in one year.
