How do I estimate the number of sheets of paper consumed at a high school in one school year? I have to make assumptions and they are: 1500 students, everyone gets the same number of papers used for the school year, (I don't know whether the last assumption is good but please help!) Also, I have to make sketches and/or equations to be used.

$$total paper = 1500n$$
where n is the amount of paper, I would set n to 1500 papers

you need a lots of details, like the average subjects students take for certain grade, and for each grade, number of tests, quizes and exams, number of homeworks and assignments...then you can build up a mathematical model and find the average number of papers used per year.
to find out how close your answer is to actual number of paper used, go ask finance department on how much papers they buy annually, and find out how much a student would use of papers per year.
