how did the spanish colonizing america affect the people already living there?

The Spanish brought horses, steel, gunpowder and deseases. The first major native group they made contact were the Aztecs. In there mind a mounted soldier was "only one being." The Spanish had superior military tatics and equipment and were, many times, saw as gods by the natives. Being so, they killed or enslaved every people in their search for gold.They imposed their culture and religion and also brought many deseases that anihilated entire comunities.

Look up the Columbian exchange, it changed the way the America's operate. Catholicism, Spanish culture and language are still around to this day.
