just need to be pointed to the right direction....if a herd of elephants are going at 6 mph and a stray elephant starts running at 10 mph and reaches the heard in 5 minutes how long in hours did the stray run to catch up?

Here's how to think of this problem. There's a lot of extra info you don't need. What is the problem asking you? The stray ran 5 minutes to catch up. How long did the stray run in hours?

This problem is asking you to convert 5 minutes into x hours. That's all. 5 minutes is what fraction of an hour? Remember to convert into the same units. 5 min/60 min makes it dimensionless because the min's cancel out and leave just the ratio, which will be true in hours because there are 60 min per 1 hour. 1/12 hours.
