Sorry I lost you, but on 2/4 to 1/2:

1,2 and 1,2,4
so divide out the 2 in both the top and bottom.
2/4
2 divided by 2 is 1 and
4 divided by 2 is 2
and we see 2/4 is simplified as 1/2.
