I need help describing the sequence in which a genotype is turned into a phenotye, I need to kno where in the cell the steps of the sequence occur and include DNA to RNA and RNA to protein. HELP!

OpenStudy (trancenova):

In genetics, gene expression is the most fundamental level at which the genotype gives rise to the phenotype. The genetic code stored in DNA is "interpreted" by gene expression, and the properties of the expression give rise to the organism's phenotype. (pasted from wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_expression). I wouldn't be able to describe it accurately myself so here are some links that can help you: http://www.isds.duke.edu/courses/Spring04/sta278/refinfo/Gene_Expression.pdf http://edtech.clas.pdx.edu/gene_expression_tutorial/ (<- for this link when you start the tute to continue note the links at the top (they're a bit hard to see)).

I think, DNA is converted to mRNA (transcription) in the nucleus and it transported to the cytoplasm later for encoding protein from mRNA (translation). This translation process occurs in ribosomes.
