Where did the first cell come from?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Whyy the primordial soup I believe :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have any more details? I would be very grateful if you did!

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Hehe, yes, I'm trying to find an old post that covered this :) Give me a mo :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! :D

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Okay, so the basic theory is that a bunch of molecules were floating around in the 'soup' and with chance (and ALOT of time) formed molecules that became more and more complex, the random combinations of these complex molecules slowly formed a functioning cell. We talked about it a little here: http://openstudy.com/groups/biology/updates/4e3b65ea0b8b269281820679

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thanks :)

OpenStudy (trancenova):

no worries :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All cells originate from other cells. This concept is known as the "Cell Theory".

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Lol yes, Bebelolik, cells come from cells but the first cell had to come from somewhere.
