OpenStudy (aravindg):

in which case it is eassier to move a lawn roller???pulling or pushing???

OpenStudy (aravindg):

xlain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same, same force applied in different direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both r same

OpenStudy (aravindg):

sure???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Draw a diagram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup because there is no difference in force applied there is only difference in direction bro

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no they aren't same pulling is more easier than pushing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since by pulling, you decrease the normal push on the mower by the earth, thus decreasing friction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is simply because there would be more friction against motion of a lawn roller in case of pushing than in case of pulling. When a lawn roller is pulled by a certain force (F), the vertical component of that pulling force decreases the weight (mg) of the roller which in turn results in decreases of normal reaction . Since frictional force pulling is directly proportional to the normal reaction, friction is less here. When the lawn roller is pushed by the same force (F), the vertical component of the pushing force now increases the weight of the roller which mw results in increase of normal reaction . Therefore here friction is more.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

dashini is it only applicable to lawn mover??

OpenStudy (aravindg):

is it applicable to all bodies??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for all bodies!!!

OpenStudy (aravindg):

wow..then next time i need to move a table i should pull it rather than push it??
