Don't use alt codes.. Use Latex.
*[lim_{x\rightarrow \infty}\sqrt{341x} = \infty *]
replace * with \
\[lim_{x\rightarrow \infty}\sqrt{341x} = \infty \]

type in under the start progam and ctype character map you can have a lot of stuff there
