Solve t^2+9t+18=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(t+6)(t+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used the box method for this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am lost ......box method ? I dont think I have learned that yet or else I forgot it....please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what two factors can you add to get 9 and multiply to get 18? i just use a box to make it easier though t^2 is t times t when factored i got the 6 and 3 bc when you add them you get 9, when you multiply them together you get 18

hero (hero):

Draw the box method. I would like to see it

hero (hero):

There are multiple ways to go about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I understand that, but how do you determine what t is using the box method?

hero (hero):

How come you haven't drawn it yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you set (t+6)(t+3) each equal to 0 t=-6 and t=-3
