COORDINATES GRAPH a. y=-2x-1 and b. y=1/2x-1 make two observations you can make with this

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

now it's fine.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

the slope for the first one is -2. and for the second one is 1/2

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

its going to be perpendicular

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

whereas the y-intercpts are same.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

yes, these lines are perpendicular since the slope of b is -1/(slope a)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u show me how to graph them please

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

For the first equation, you'll have to make a point on your y-intercept of -1. Since your slope is -2, you will have to go two units down from the y-intercept of -1, and then go one unit to the right, because it is -2/1. For the second equation, you will have to make a point at y-intercept of +1, and go one up and 2 to the right as your slope is 1/2.

thanks u :)

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Anytime =)
