How many vitamins do we actually need? all the time we hear in the media 'we lack this vitamin' and this vitamin boosts this' or whatever. what ones do we actually need that aren't in our diet or don't give the RDA

Humans need many vitamins as these are things we cannot synthesize ourselves but without them our bodies have trouble functioning. Wikipedia lists 12 vitamins but there are also many other things that we need. What you do or don't need does depend on what you eat. There are a ton of different types of vitamins. Each vitamin has its own set of research about what it does and how much you need. If you are concerned about what you need, you should focus less on specific vitamins and focus more on eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables; a healthy diet gives you all the vitamins that you need.

they are an accesory item it is best to ask with your doctor to see if you actually really need them ie. if you are a healthy person, do you actually need vitamins ? this is my opinion
