why do we name functions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It makes them appear nicer :-).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A function is like a friend if you give it a good name, like "Function Sir Paul Grithwood Jollyhanks"

serious answer plz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm being dead serious!

Ok, seriously, naming functions makes things easier. That way we can keep track of complicated terms without having to write them about all the time. We can just write f(x) instead of \[ \sum^\infty_{n=0}\frac{\Gamma(a+n)}{\Gamma(a)\Gamma(n+1)}x^n \]
