Construct an equation and then use it to solve the problem. (a) Pressure P is directly proportional to temperature T, and P is 23 lb per square inch when T is 46 degrees Fahrenheit. What is the pressure when the temperature is 58 degrees Fahrenheit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P = kT where k is a constant P = 23 when T = 46 so 23 = 46k k = 0.5 thus P = 0.5T when T=58: P = 0.5 * 58 = 29
