Are you sure you copied it correctly?  I think it should be "... only good rewriting."

It means that no one will write something perfectly, the first time.  Everything needs to be proofread, and edited, and REWRITEN.  That's why, in school, you have to write so many drafts of your papers.  The more you rewrite it, the better it becomes.
