if b^2-4ac is equal to 0 or a positive perfect square for the type of poly you have then the poly is factorable. in your case\[7^2-4(2)(3)=49-24=25\]whcih implies factorability:\[2x^2+x+6x+3=0\]\[x(2x+1)+3(2x+1)=0\]\[(2x+1)(x+3)=0\]set each of the factors equal to 0 and solve\[x+3=0\]\[x=-3\]or\[2x+1=0\]\[x=-1/2\]the solution set is {-3, -1/2}
