10x^2+13x+4 10x^2+5x+8x+4 (10x^2+5x)+(8x+4) 5x(2x+1)+4(2x+1) (5x+4)(2x+1) So 10x^2+5x+8x+4=(5x+4)(2x+1)

keys to note: 10*4 = 40, we need two numbers that multiply to 40 and add to 13: they are 5 and 8
