what is the cell cylce?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can think about this as the life cycle of the cell. It starts at the end of one mitotic event, and sees the cell through the next mitotic event. Cells first enter the G1 phase where they are building biomass. If they are given the signal to divide again, they begin stockpiling the components necessary for DNA replication. They then enter the S phase where DNA synthesis occurs. Next comes the G2 phase where the cell stockpiles the components needed for mitosis and cytokinesis. You then go to mitosis and cytokinesis, then back to G1
