is patenting of living organism ethical ?why?
I think this is a question you need to reflect upon, as it is ultimately an opinion. What is your thinking? We can go back to the HeLa cell, and the derivations of the HeLa cells. This question has many different answers, depending upon your views. Do you think that researchers that spend years working on a genetically engineered organism that has commercial value deserve a part of the monetary rewards of the commercialization? Do you think that life has intrinsic value that can not be owned by another? Do you think that research should be for the greater good, and not for profit?
these kind of ethical questions can not really have a definite right or wrong answer. I think that the techniques involved in developing transgenic animals for medical and pharmaceutical use should be able to be patented, but not the organism its self. I also think that microbes should be able to be patented
