Reginald was driving a boat at 60mph against the current for 2 hours. Reginald took the same trip with the current it took a 1 hour and 15 minutes. Calculate how fast Reginald was traveling in the water with the current.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[v_xt_x=s\]s is constant, so we can say:\[v_1t_1=v_2t_2\] \(v_1\) is the velocity against the current (60mph - current velocity), \(t_1\) is the time taken to travel the displacement s at that velocity. \(v_2\) is the velocity with the current (60mph + current velocity), \(t_2\) is the time taken to travel the displacement s at that velocity. So:\[(60-c)(2) = (60+c)(1.25)\]Solve for c!
