Why did we hep the cuban eiles invade cuba at the bay of pigs?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I dont have official research on this, but from what I remember in high school, we (u.s) were extremely concerned about the communist influence anywhere, especially in the western hemisphere. I believe there was something called the "Truman Doctrine" committing U.S. monetary investment to the prevention of Russian expansionism.Seeing as we DEFINITELY did not want a communist island off the coast of the United States, I'm pretty sure we were willing to anything short of dropping bombs on them, and I believe that this fact is what threw Cuba into Russian arms in the first place; what the hell was Cuba going to do about the U.S. if they chose to become communist? Free world so long as you're doing things the way we want you to huh?
edit* the Truman doctrine started the anti-communist cold war mentality, but this continued on through presidencies climaxing with the Kennedy "us vs them" mentality.
