What is meant by 'essential amino acids'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

out of the natural 26 (you can synthesize different molecules artificially that will still count as AA) our body biochemical machinery is able to produce 20, by altering different AA and making new ones. for 6 we just dont have the enzymes that are able to build them "from scratch" or alter other AA to them. therefore IT IS ESSENTIAL TO "PROCURE" THEM THROGH NUTIRITION. that essentially why they are called essential (Excuse me for the pun)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 essential amino acids are amino acids tht the body needs but can't produce on its own so we must supplimnet for them
